About Dogs Deserve Better
Tamira Ci Thayne (formerly Tammy Grimes) is founder and CEO of Dogs Deserve Better, an award-winning national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the chaining and penning of dogs, and bringing Man's Best Friend into the home and family. Dogs Deserve Better was the first place winner of the 2003 Chase/ASPCA Pet Protector Award; Thayne was a top ten finalist for the 2006 Animal Planet Hero of the Year Award. And, in 2010, Thayne was called the "Godmother of Anti-Tethering" by USA Today. The organization and Thayne took seven spots in the 2010 American Dog Humanitarian Awards, including a First in Rescue Organization Saving Dogs and a First in Voice for Ending the Chaining of Dogs.
