While the tour is over, we revived the website on Tumblr in February 2013, and we relaunched DiversityinYA.com in January 2014. We celebrate young adult books about all kinds of diversity, from race to sexual orientation to gender identity and disability. Our goal is to bring attention to books and authors that might fall outside the mainstream, an... d to bring the margin to the center. We encourage an attitude of openness and curiosity, and we welcome questions and discussion. Please note: We do not publish book reviews. Instead we publish guest posts from authors about their books and writing process; we compile lists of diverse books; we analyze data about diversity in YA literature; we interview authors and those in the business of publishing diverse books; and we share links to the broader discourse on diversity in YA. Disclaimer: Although Diversity in YA compiles book lists and shares news about diverse YA titles, these books are not personal recommendations from Malinda Lo or Cindy Pon unless they are explicitly identified as such. It is impossible for us to personally read each title, though we do research the titles before we feature them. We do not knowingly feature offensive books. At the same time, we recognize that reading preferences and reactions to content are personal.
