Runcorn Gap Railway in August 2014. The Disused Stations Website was started in 2004 by Nick Catford. Since 2004 Nick has been joined by a number of other writers and many people have contributed material. The purpose of the site is to build up a comprehensive database of this part of Britains railway heritage. Each station will have photographs from the past and present, a written history and a selection of maps. All stations added from November 2007 also include a timetable extract and tickets where available. Since the site was started it has developed to include goods stations, stations that have reopened and other railway related features. Michael has been a collector of railway tickets since 1948 and would be pleased to be offered any similar interesting tickets. Other tickets have been supplied by Brian Halford who has been collecting tickets since 1961. Many photos shown on the Disused Stations website are from the collection of the late John Mann. John Mann visited station sites around the UK for over two decades and made a photographic record. He also collected old photographs of the stations that he visited. The collection contained over 60,000 images and was donated to us in 2010.Read More
