Diagnostic Pathology was organized in 1987. Since that time, Diagnostic Pathology has evolved into a practice with three board certified Pathologists, Dr. Edward Proctor, Jr., Dr. Charles Walls, Jr., and Dr. Melanie (Lesa) Hopkins. These pathologists are all board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as subspecialty certification wi... th Dr. Proctor certified in Forensic Pathology, Dr. Walls in Dermatopathology, and Dr. Hopkins in Cytopathology. Diagnostic Pathology is a full service Pathology group providing clinical laboratory services, full service surgical pathology and cytopathology diagnostic services including: General histology Frozen Sections Cytopathology Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNA) Sentinel node evaluation ThinPrep Pap test HPV testing Chlamydia/Gonorrhea testing Next day turn around on most biopsy specimens and normal paps Our Pathology group is at the cutting edge of pathology and incorporates prognostic and diagnostic studies to include state-of-the-art molecular techniques through send out testing such as: Flow Cytometry Cytogenetics DNA Analysis We are active participants in Tumor Board and Cancer Committee with review of new cancer cases to include staging. These are discussed in regular meetings of the Cancer Committee and Tumor Board to help provide a multidisciplinary approach to cancer diagnosis and treatment for all cancer patients. Diagnostic Pathology provides pathology services at all times (around the clock) to insure that hospital patients, many independent physicians' practices/and surgery centers receive the very best laboratory and surgical pathology support available.
