Why do you need an ACVR Board Certified Veterinary Radiologist to be part of your veterinary practice? No one has as much training and experience in imaging and ultrasound as an ACVR Board Certified Radiologist. Including a Veterinary Radiologist on your animal health care team can maximize the diagnostic potential of imaging studies and heighten the quality of animal care. Board Certified Veterinary Radiologists have completed 3 or 4 years of additional training in ultrasound, radiology, computed tomography, MRI and nuclear medicine following a 4 year DVM or VMD degree and at least a one year intership or general practice. During their training, they have devoted a minimum of 6 months of intense clinical training to diagnostic ultrasound and must perform a minimum of 1000 ultrasound exams. Following training, radiologists become board certified by passing a rigorous exam (written and oral) given by the American College of Veterinary Radiology. Ultrasound and radiograph conclusions are made on site, immediately following the exam with no waiting for someone else to read or interpret the findings.
