In early 1997 Ms. Gutierrez started a home based Physical Therapy business for children and families who are developmental delayed in her home. Her business quickly spread abroad, when the parents began sharing with others their experiences and challenges with each other. These families knew that their children had an untapped potential and could f... lourish if they only had the proper support. They identified the strong need for lifelong services that would help their children realize their unique unfounded potential and live as independently as possible. In 2001, Ms. Gutierrez, open a small clinic in the City of Whittier, in order to expand and provide additional treatments to clients in Los Angeles County. After expanding her company, Ms. Gutierrez dreamed of starting a Non-Profit to help families with special need children, that could not afford therapy services or without health insurance. Ms. Gutierrez, Unhappy with bureaucratic delays and inadequate funding of programs for physically and mentally challenged children, Ms. Gutierrez became committed to developing programs that would increase awareness on children with special needs. DG Therapy Foundation staff provides personal, knowledgeable, and compassionate direct assistance to thousands of families each year, through workshops, events, and outreach. We empower parents with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to advocate for their children. We also advise and collaborate with educators, mental health professionals, and all levels of government to bring a family perspective to the systems that are designed to help children with special needs.
