Dechets a L'Or

Dechets a lOr is the culmination of over four years of research and work in New York City, Bangalore, and Kankan. Through our work and understanding of the issues that face these diverse and growing cities, we began to discuss the serious need for waste management systems that service existing populations and anticipate the needs of growing cities.... In conversations with Guinean government officials we saw the potential to support some of the fastest growing cities in the world and to create long-term employment opportunities. Our work looks to create new sources of revenue for communities, improve cities environmental footprint, and promote public health by reducing pathogens that cause disease. Ayo' is a Columbia University MSc. Urban Planning graduate, Ayo has been researching waste practices in rapidly growing world cities for over two years. Ayo also has several years of experience in economic and community development in NYC and with non-profit management. He has conducted worked and studied the issues around waste in India and Guinea. DalO is a result of Ayos experience living in Guinea and other growing cities. He is supported by a strong team of advisors with experience in business development; start up management, anaerobic digestion, and engineering. A graduate of the University Julius Nyerere of Kankan, DG has been involved in several community development projects in Kankan as a student and since his graduation. He regularly works with Fulbright researchers and students providing local administrative support during their time in Kankan. He has been a critical leader during our project demo and was responsible for community engagement and using his experience from a traditional farmer managed our composting activities. We are fortunate to have him on board. Jennifer Rivers holds a BSc. in Mechanical engineering and a MSc. in Civil engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology respectively.
