This eight week group for cis and non-cis gender women will provide a safe space to heal from sexual abuse, assault and harassment. Participants will have the opportunity to further their emotional healing, explore pathways for empowerment and action, and build community. On October 15, 2017, the #metoo movement exploded onto social media. Whether... or not you joined the thousands that posted about their experiences of sexual violence, many women now feel empowered to come forward-whether to tell their stories or make a complaint in their workplace. Telling our stories can be deeply empowering. While this is an important step in healing, it is rarely enough. Most survivors need time and support to work through lingering feelings of self-blame, loss of trust, damaged sense of self and self-esteem, as well as other related trauma impacts. As these issues are being worked through, and a new level of wellness is being established, survivors also need to find ways to 'take' their power back. This is where action and bringing personal healing into the larger world comes in. Actions might involve engaging in political and/or social advocacy for one's self or in support of those in marginalized communities who don't feel safe to come forward around sexual violence. Survivors might also want to share their stories with the greater community or fundraise for women's service organizations. Whatever you are drawn towards, you will walk your own unique pathway for healing and action. Debra Taube has over 25 years experience working with survivors of sexual violence. She believes deeply in the power of survivor community to support healing and empower members to take action on behalf of others and themselves.
