Dawson's True Value Hardware

Dawson's Hardware was established in May of 1960 by Bob & Barbara Dawson in a small storefront in the Village Shopping Center in Topsfield, MA. In 1967, Mr. Dawson joined the Chicago-based buying co-operative Cotter & Company, and became a True Value Hardware dealer. In 1970, Dawson's moved into a larger, corner location in the shopping center, and... business flourished. Current manager, Jack Maxner, took over in 1989 when Bob's eldest son retired from the business. Topsfield relocated again in 2002 to the largest storefront at the opposite end of the shopping center. In 1974, Dawson's opened a second location on Rte 1A in Beverly, MA. Continued success and growth prompted two relocations before finally settling in the current location, a 15,000 sq. ft. building just over a mile down Rte 1A from the original Beverly store in 1995. In the late 1980s, Bob Wallace, Bob Dawson's nephew, took over the reigns in Beverly and held that leadership role until 2012. 2013 saw our Beverly location renovated to freshen its appearance, layout, and product selection; additionally Mark Johnson assumed the management role under the tutelage of Bob Wallace. At Dawson's True Value, we are all one big family. Some of us are related, some are not, but we all relate to being family. Since 1960, Bob Dawson and his "family" have built their reputation not only on the extensive array of inventory, but also on the quality of their customer service.
