D-Q University

The University experienced multiple challenges which ultimately led to a loss of accreditation in 2005. Without accreditation the University was unable to sustain funding for classes and the campus was left vacant for a time. Unfortunately, since then the campus has also been plagued with incidents of vandalism, theft, and destruction of property.... The facilities fell into further disrepair due to the age of the buildings, lack of upkeep and resources, and weather. The positive outlook for the University is that progress has been made in recent years by Board of Trustee members, volunteers, and community supporters to repair and clean up parts of the facilities and land. The buildings that need major repairs also have significant space in good condition and full of potential! This includes the library that appears almost untouched and is full of books, a nice science lab, computer lab, and mechanic shop, to name a few. The campus has two large dorms as well as numerous large meeting rooms and many classrooms. The campus facilities also have beautiful murals and artwork everywhere, inside and outside of the buildings. A lot of the equipment and supplies are still usable, as well as a treasury of records about the University's long history. And while the University is not yet re-accredited, it does maintain its 501(c)3 nonprofit status in good standing. Various gatherings, meetings, and an annual pow wow are held at the campus throughout the year. On August 11, 2012, the University Board of Trustees signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Inter-Tribal Council of California, Inc. (ITCC) (http://www.itccinc.org/) for the purposes of strengthening the administrative capacity of the University as well as planning and development working towards an accredited education program.
