We were born in 1955 with a vision to spread the transforming love of God throughout our beautiful community. Over 60 years later, our desire to reach out in love and hope remains strong. We strive to live our name- Community: to be a place where all persons can come and encounter Christ. To be a force for "unity" and healing in our city and beyond... . We believe a church isn't a building, it's people. We've come through a fire that destroyed the sanctuary and years later a storm that destroyed the other half of the building. We helped rebuild our neighborhoods when we experienced significant flooding a few years ago and we sent teams to Mississippi and Haiti when help was needed there. The people of Community United Methodist Church are: ordinary people, working intentionally to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We seek to live cross shaped lives- in peaceful and joyful relationship with God, others, and our true self. modern-day missionaries, serving as agents of positive change in the lives of those we love, our community and world. an inter-generational church, socio-economically and ethnically diverse, with a faith family of persons at all points in their faith journey.
