The Computer Science Teachers Association of New Jersey (CSTA-NJ) is a group of 4 chapters of the CSTA , the national organization whose purpose is to support and promote the teaching of computer science and other computing disciplines. The mission of these chapters is to further the mission of CSTA and to encourage sharing of ideas and activities... for computer science teachers in their respective regions of New Jersey. CSTA NNJ will be hosting this month's CSTANJ virtual meeting. We will have a discussion about the newly forming CSTA-NJ, a short presentation on cseducators.stackexchange.com, and a representative from Phidgets Education. Here is the agenda including the link. I hope you can join us! Governor Murphy signed the 2021 budget today which included $800,000 for CS Education and included the following wording. We are hopeful that this will help ensure that the funding will be used primarily for professional development opportunities as we prepare for the CS Standards to be implemented by September 2022. The amount hereinabove appropriated for the K-12 Computer Science Education Initiative shall be used exclusively to support approved applications for the expansion and support of professional development of K-12 computer science teachers, and for advanced computer science course offerings as determined by the Commissioner of Education based on a districts demonstration of its readiness to implement such a program, subject to the approval of the Director of the Division of Budget and Accounting.
