Established in April 1998 by Vern Janvier, a Member of the Chipewyan Prairie Dene First Nation, initial work for C.P. Services began in local gas fields. As gas fields were shut in, C.P. Services used the opportunity to shift focus to providing services to local SAG-D operations. As a result C.P. Services diversified into: Certified trades,Tank farm/pipeline operations and maintenance, transportation, road maintenance, and general construction consulting, seismic line clearing services, maintenance services, construction of stress membrane buildings, as well as partnering with other contractors to provide a wide range of additional services clients required.
