As a community-based, not-for-profit provider of hospice and palliative care services, were committed to caring for and improving the lives of our patients, their families, and their caretakers. T... he Mission of Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care is to make quality Hospice care available to all persons, their families, and those affected by serious illness, death and dying in our community; to advocate effectively for patients comfort, dignity and choice; and to be recognized as the leading resource in clinical, ethical, and spiritual issues of dying and grief. A PROMISE MADE TO OUR PATIENTS: With compassion and a holistic approach, Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care employees, volunteers and contracted staff will render the highest quality of care and support: Cornerstone was founded out of a need, not an opportunity, in 1981 by a compassionate group of nurses in Eustis who were called to help aging neighbors in the community. Their dream became reality in the mid 80s when Lake Hospice was licensed to provide comprehensive hospice services to the community. In February 1991, Tavares Hospice House with six beds opened next door to the Center, becoming the second hospice house built in the State and the first free-standing one. The organization began operating as Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care in 2010 to better represent the seven counties served. Today, nearly 40 years later, we have an even greater reach and more diversified solutions that bring comfort and peace to everyone we serve, not only in one of our facilities, but even in the comfort of home.
