Cope Center North

Cope Center North is located in the West Little River area at 9950 N.W. 19th Avenue, Miami, Fl. The school gives young mothers and their children the opportunity to enroll in school at no cost. While mothers are studying, their babies are being cared for in the schools nursery. This gives the teen mothers an opportunity to feel comfortable, be resp... onsible caring parents, while simultaneously getting assistance to continue working towards their academic and post-secondary goals, by meeting the Miami-Dade County Schools curriculum. Teen mothers also have the possibility to enroll in the Dual Enrollment program at D.A. Dorsey Technical College to study Patient Care Assistant. Of the students attending COPE North, 52% are African-American, 45% are Hispanic and 3% are white. The school is staffed with a Student Services Department to include school counselors, school social workers, and school nurses. The department addresses the educational, social, health and wellness needs of our teen parents and their children. In addition to the instructional program, an on-campus childcare facility provides quality childcare by early-childhood professionals, who are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment that focuses on the social, emotional, and cognitive development of the children in their care.
