About Cooee Cafe

Cooee Café is the only Indigenous café on the Mornington Peninsula. Owned by Sharon Brindley and managed by her daughter Shayla and her team of experienced hospitality staff, the café offers dine in, takeaway and catering six days a week. The word cooee originates from the Dharug language of the original inhabitants of the Sydney area. It means come here, and has now become widely used in Australia as a call over distances. Serving authentic Indigenous foods, flavours and dishes alongside regular Australian cuisine, we offer our customers an eclectic food experience. Sharon grew up on the Mornington Peninsula spending a lot of her childhood days over in Kalgoolie with her Grandmother who would take her out bush and who taught her how to live off the land. This is where and when Sharon developed her love of cooking and knowledge of Indigenous ingredients. Sharon sees food as an integral part of connecting family and people regardless of their background, culture or religion. Sharon BrinRead more
