Contrast Equipment

Contrast Equipment, as it is known today, was originally founded in 1923 and incorporated in 1968 as Contrast Paint Company. The company manufactured paint for the automotive aftermarket and industrial accounts. In the mid-30s, Contrast Paint also began supplying their automotive customers with spray guns and paint application equipment. In the mid... -70s, they expanded into the fiberglass reinforced products market and started selling fiberglass equipment. In 1977, the paint portion of the business was sold and the business was expanded to include selling spray booths, paint application equipment, and fluid handling equipment. In 1981, Bob Borman joined the company, bringing 15 years of experience with Graco. He changed the focus of the business to specialize in selling and servicing industrial fluid handling and finishing equipment. In 1988, Bob Borman and Bob Chambers purchased the company from its previous owners and acquired two similar businesses to become the primary distributor for many key products in the Kansas City area. In 1989, the name was changed to Contrast Equipment Company. In 2008, Bob Borman purchased Bob Chambers interest in Contrast and became sole owner. The business has continued to grow at a rate of 15% to 20% per year since 1988 and has become a key provider of fluid handling and finishing equipment in the region, an area spanning a 250-300 mile radius of Kansas City. In 2014, Contrast was acquired by Midway Industrial Supply, Inc. , making the combined company one of the largest industrial fluid handling and finishing equipment and system distributors in the United States.Read More
