As Managing Partner of IA, Pat Whetzle is responsible for the strategic and financial direction of the firm. For more than 20 years, Pat has been recognized for his leadership skills and his high standards for quality and workmanship. Pats first exposure to building came through his time spent amongst the tools and machines of the Original American... Kazoo Factory, which his grandfather owned and operated. Watching his grandfather repair and modify the old-fashioned die and stamping machines by hand instilled in him a deep appreciation for craft and restoration. Out of college, Pat made his way up to Alaska and spent 12 years as a commercial fisherman there. In between trips up north, he earned a law degree and subsequently passed the New York State Bar. Pat returned to New York and started a career in construction, eventually finding his way to IA as a carpenter. After successfully leading several of IAs larger projects, Pat was made a partner in 1998. Pat Murtagh grew up on a farm outside Dublin, Ireland where he learned about building by repairing and maintaining the various machines and structures essential to the function of the farm. As a young man, he trained as a machinist and later worked as a carpenters apprentice in Dublin where he honed his craft renovating beautiful, historic homes. It was there that he developed a deep appreciation for the attention to detail and care required to preserve original architecture. After moving to the States several years later, Pat started work in the construction industry and soon made his way to IA where he was hired as a site supervisor. His extensive experience, attention to detail and quick rapport with everyone on his projects soon led to his promotion to partner in 1986. Today, Pat works with IA while also running Heights Historic , a window and door company he started in 2005.
