The Concrete Workers United (LIUNA! CWU Local 202) represents concrete construction workers in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. Our members come from a variety of different socio-economic backgrounds, but they all have on thing in common: They are responsible for all the major construction in the DC Metro area. As you drive around the DC area,... you see work cranes all over the District. The construction that is going up around the DC area takes time to be done correctly. It takes a well trained workforce to make sure that these projects are being completed on time and on budget. We make sure that our workers are the best-trained in the industry because we care about what DC is going to look like to future generations. We want to make sure that the residents of the DC Metropolitan Area are going to work in the safest buildings in the District. With CWU Local 202, public safety always comes first and our workers receive extensive jobsite safety training. LiUNA! CWU Local 202 advocates for fair workplace conditions on behalf of concrete construction workers in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Concrete construction is a dangerous profession that takes a demanding physical toll on workers. Our workers generally report to work before dawn, and they usually do not complete their day until late in the afternoon. At LiUNA!, we work to make sure that our members are being treated fairly on the job-site. We advocate for good wages and benefits on behalf of workers and their families because we understand that when workers win, everyone in DC wins along with them. LiUNA! CWU Local 202 believes that all concrete construction workers should have a real voice in the workplace. We aim to unite workers around a common struggle for better workplace conditions.
