Compost Revolution

Currently partnering with over 40 councils across Australia, Compost Revolution (operated by Revolution Apps) is an award-winning social enterprise which educates and equips Australians to begin home composting through fun online tutorials and an integrated easy ordering system which allows residents to choose their composting gear and have it deli... vered straight to their door. Developed for councils by councils, over the last 4 years the Compost Revolution has grown to become Australia's largest community of composters and worm farmers, diverting over 2.9 million kgs of waste from landfill, avoiding 4.5 million kgs of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions, and saving councils over $650,000 in landfill costs. The Compost Revolution started as a community initiative of local councils looking to reduce the negative environmental and economic impacts of sending residential waste to landfill. In 2009, three councils in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs (Waverley, Randwick and Woollahra) launched a pilot program with funding from the NSW EPA. Revolution Apps partnered with these councils to launch the program nationwide in 2011.
