Community State Bank is a regional financial institution serving northwest Iowa through multiple branch locations and comprehensive banking services. The bank's corporate foundation traces to four separate bank charters established in Albert City, Marathon, Webb, and Sioux Rapids, Iowa, with the oldest charter dating to 1914 as Farmers Savings Bank... in Albert City. Following decades of independent operation under various ownership structures, the bank consolidated under its current name in October 1997 when a group of Spencer businessmen acquired majority ownership of the three locations and relocated the charter to Spencer. Community State Bank has since expanded its footprint and service capabilities through strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of First State Bank in Sioux Rapids in October 2017a bank chartered in 1930 that had served as a cornerstone institution on Main Streetand the acquisition of Laurens State Bank in July 2021, which brought locations in Laurens, Emmetsburg, and Mallard into the Community State Bank network. Laurens State Bank, founded in 1935, had been integral to its community for over 85 years prior to acquisition, with branches in Mallard established in 2000 and Emmetsburg in 2002. The bank operates a modern headquarters facility completed in 2004 in Spencer and offers a complete line of banking products and services to retail and commercial customers throughout northwest Iowa.
