Colorado Valley Quilt Guild

CVQG was founded in 1998 with 70 charter members. We currently have 129 members who come from counties along the Colorado River valley including Fayette, Colorado, Bastrop, Lee & Lavaca. We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. in the odd months & 7 p.m. in even months at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 1215 Von Minden Rd., L... a Grange. We host "The Best Little Quilt Show in Texas" the last Friday & Saturday in February & have three retreats each year & sponsor a bus to the International Quilt Festival in Houston. Community service has always been a major part of guild activities with projects such as small quilts for area nursing homes & child advocacy groups. CVQG supports the Fayette County Country fair by providing a judge for the quilt department. Our Speaker's Bureau Committee provides speakers & related services for area non-profit organizations as well as quilting demonstrations at the Fair, Czechfest and Winedale Historical Center. CVQG President, Janet, presents annual "A Cut Above Award" to Kathi at the August meeting. A CVQG member since 2000, Kathi has served in a number of areas including 1st Vice President, Community Service Chair, Best Little Quilt Show Chair, St Mark's Quilt Chair, Patchwork News Chair, Raffle Quilt Chair, and was just elected 2nd Vice President. She is a strong promoter of all guild activities including community service and donation quilts for other non-profit groups. She shares her quilting knowledge and expertise with guild projects such as charity and storybook quilts. She is an active volunteer at The Texas Quilt Museum.
