Colonel Landscaping has risen from humble beginnings that date back to when Nicholas Schmitz was a student at Ledyard High School. He started by helping to care for neighbors' lawns, then expanded to the point his parents would drop him off at clients' houses, thenpick him up afterward. As time went on, happy customers spread the word about his work, and Nicholas found himself very busy after school. About the only person not pleased with this was the Ledyard High School football coach when Nicholas missed practice to take care of customers' fall lawn care needs. Now eight years into the operation, Colonel Landscaping's customer base and list of services have grown, but the things that have never changed are the attention to detail, quality and professionalism that helped establish the business. Current services include, but are not limited to, mowing, fertilizing, mulching, weeding, hedge trimming, tree removal, brush clearing, leaf removal, snow plowing and even tick and pest control. The process begins with a free consultation in which Nicholas and the customer will establish short- and long-term goals, along with a reasonable budget. Colonel Landscaping does not offer ready-made, cookie-cutter packages. Instead, each plan of action is individualized to help customers reach their goals while remaining on schedule and on budget. We utilize traditional and organic fertilization methods - or a combination of both - in order to meet customers' expectations and needs. Never the office type, Nicholas is happiest spending his day working with his crews on customers' properties. This keeps him in close touch with his client base and assures the top-quality that Colonel Landscaping clients have come to expect. And, being a true family owned and operated business, don't be surprised if the youngest member of the Schmitz family, 15-month-old Jaxson, occasionally shows up for work with his dad.
