The famous ski lodge was built as the Austrian Pavilion for the Worlds Fair in New York City in 1964, and then moved to Cockaigne in 1966. Cockaigne was the best place for family fun and winter events for over four decad... es, up until the lodge was destroyed in a fire in January 2011. Nearly eight years after the lodge burned, Cockaigne is reopening under new ownership and a new name. Our owners have big plans to transform Cockaigne Resort into a year-round destination for families, couples, friends and groups. Concerts and other family-fun activities during the warmer months; and winter sports, snowmobiling and more throughout the winter season.
