The Chamber of Commerce model is a means to encourage economic growth, boost job creation, and benefit our communities. The Chamber serves as the single voice of business to work with all levels of government and, in particular, our own municipality. We work to advance the success of local businesses and organizations by facilitating opportunities... for knowledge sharing, networking, the promotion of local businesses to residents and visitors, and business development. The Coboconk, Norland & Area Chamber of Commerce will play a key role in the development of local businesses. Through benefit programs, networking opportunities, professional development, and business resources, we are positioned to be an important vehicle for our members to grow and promote their businesses. A healthy economic climate will help maintain full-time, part-time, and seasonal employment, and will offer opportunities for job creation. The formation of the Chamber of Commerce has provided local business with a single voice in which to speak with senior administration at the municipality and with Council. Approximately 2 years ago, members of the Economic Development Department at the City of Kawartha Lakes began working with Coboconk and Norland businesses to assist us in establishing what type of organizational structure would support our goal of being a vibrant community for business and residents. As of February 21, 2014 we are a fully recognized Chamber of Commerce with an enthusiastic group of over 100 members. The Coboconk, Norland & Area Chamber of Commerce is the first new Chamber of Commerce in the province in the past 20 years. We are a voluntary association of business and professional men and women who have joined together in a commitment to improve the social, civic, and business environment in Coboconk, Norland and area.
