About Coaltek
CoalTek enables coal-fired power generators and steel manufacturers to: Reduce fuel costs Decrease environmental compliance costs Raise feedstock BTU by as much as 50% Leverage fuel quality, consistency and flexibility to increase operating efficiency The CoalTek process was developed, tested, and proven over eight years by Dr. Jerry Weinberg, the company's co-founder, along with chief geologist Neil Ginther. CoalTek opened its first commercial processing facility in Calvert City, Kentucky in 2006. The plant's initial capacity of 120,000 tons/yr will be expanded in the future, and there are also plans to build additional facilities, to meet the growing demand for clean coal. Chris Poirier joined CoalTek in 2003 as president and CEO, with a charter to lead the company through a rapid expansion with support from five prominent investment firms including Draper Fisher Jurvetson.Explore more
