Coalition for Independence

The Coalition for Independence (CFI) was founded by Paul Levy in 1988. Paul was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the mid-1960's and spent nearly 30 years as an active advocate for people with disabilities. Mr. Levy formed Coalition for Independence to help individuals with disabilities find personal care attendants and to advocate continuously... for accessibility in public facilities and transportation. Through true compassion and dedication, CFI's staff has empowered those with disabilities to live as independently and productively as possible in the mainstream of their communities. Coalition for Independence is a Center for Independent Living (CIL) as mandated by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (1978 Reauthorization, Section VII), U.S. Department of Education. Coalition for Independence is located in Kansas City, KS, and Kansas City, MO, serving the whole Kansas City metro area. Today, CFI continues to help individuals with disabilities live an independent and productive life. Serving over 3,000 individual in the Kansas City metro area, CFI is one of the premier providers of independent living services in the area, helping individuals find "The Path to Living Independently."
