CNTA, the National Centre for Food Technology and Safety is a private non-profit making association. Since 1981, the aim of this technological centre is to contribute towards improving the competitiveness and quality of the food sector. In 1991 processes were initiated to transform Laboratorios del Ebro into a national technology centre. A year later, in June 1992, the project was successfully completed. From then on it left behind the name of Ebro Laboratories to become the National Technical Centre for Vegetable Preserves. This shift brought with it an increase in activity, and the facilities were expanded from 200m2 in 1991 to 1,200m2 in 1995. In 2003 the centre was renamed to the National Centre for Food Technology and Safety, CNTA. At this point, not only did it provide services to the vegetable preservation sector, but also to all the food and beverage sub-sectors. This date coincides with the opening of the current facilities, which cover 3,300m2 of constructed area, 11,000m2 of urbanised area and an additional 9,000m2. In 2013, CNTA embarked upon its international strategy consolidated with the opening of a branch in Peru acquired in 2018 by Mérieux NutriScience. 2016 marked an important milestone in the centre's history, as it began a new strategy aiming to offer a leap forward in the quality of the food sector.Read More
