About CLEARCorps/Detroit
Since 1999, Southeast Michigan Health Association's (SEMHA) CLEARCorps Detroit program has created healthy homes for children and families by reducing environmental risks (lead poisoning, asthma triggers, etc.) that impact health by creating community awareness (outreach and education), providing training, and reducing health hazards in homes through direct service and referrals to other programs. CLEARCorps Detroit uses a person-centered and home-focused approach to reduce the health risks of lead poisoning and other environmental hazards in the home. This includes home repairs and/or providing materials to create healthy homes, educating parents about health risks, referring children for testing and treatment, referrals to other programs, advocacy for policy change, and when necessary relocation services for families with children with elevated blood lead levels.
