CPI Distribution was created in 2004 for the expressed purpose of servicing the Handleman Co. for independent label products to be sold to Walmart, K-Mart, and Best Buy. The structural foundation for CPI distribution was a business plan created by Clay Pasternack and Rick Chrzan (former VP and GM of the music division of MS Dist. in Chicago) for its customers to do business with consignment or POS (Point of Sale) payment to its vendors.
