C. J. Keane & Co has been a family real estate company for more than eighty years and was first set up by Celestine Joseph Keane in the early part of the 20th century. When time came for him to retire in 1951, he sold the business to the young twenty seven year old Sydney Thomson who took over the reigns of this already well established company, an... d for reasons of goodwill and the existing long standing reputation in Geelong, kept the original owner's name. Syd Thomson was a power house and for five decades headed the ever expanding family business from its one office located in Ryrie Street, Geelong to its current head office in Fenwick Street. Along the real estate journey Syd and his son Laurie Thomson opened eight other C.J. Keane Real Estate offices across the Geelong region and down the south west coast. Today, C. J.
