Civic Leader

Civic Leader provides accredited training programmes for students across Northern Ireland. The training aims to enable young people to access opportunities for public service. Northern Ireland has one of the youngest populations in Europe so it makes sense that young people are providing with the right training and skills so that a new generation o... f leaders are formed. The training seeks to provide basic knowledge, skills and awareness of civic leadership. It also provides a range of opportunities so that students can take steps to use the new found confidence and skills to contribute to society. Currently, Civic Leader has partnered with Belfast Metropolitan College to train up to 250 A-level students in civic leadership over the course of the next year. The training forms part of students Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (COPE) aimed at enhancing their employability skills for students. Civic Leader also offers students the opportunity to also achieve qualifications through the Open College Network (OCN) in: Developing leadership skills Understanding rights and responsibilities of citizenship Developing group and teamwork communication skills Using teamwork skills Civic Leader is an initiative of the Washington-Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (WIP) as part of a range of activities to mark its 15th Anniversary.
