What does the Connections in Mind Foundation do? The Connections in Mind Foundation (CiMF) is a UK-based charity whose mission is to improve educational and well-being outcomes for children, young people and neuro-diverse adults, by partnering with schools, youth projects, individual professionals and other relevant organisations to provide evidenc... e based training and programmes that promote executive function skill development. Our aims are to improve the outcomes for all people in the UK with executive function challenges, with a particular focus on young people who face multiple disadvantages such as poverty and special educational needs and to increase awareness about how executive functions relate to childhood development, emotional wellbeing, learning and behaviour. Executive functions are a fundamental aspect of brain development, which have a profound impact on our learning and wellbeing. Executive function skills affect our ability to plan, organise and execute tasks efficiently. They are also involved in how we manage our emotions, self regulation, control and self awareness. These are the skills we need to flourish in life. Consequently poor executive functioning can negatively impact on academic achievement, emotional wellbeing, interpersonal relationships and job outcomes. Every child and adult has a unique spectrum of executive function strengths and weaknesses.
