Churchill Elementary

We make it a priority to ensure students master the Illinois Learning Standards. Common Assessments are given at regular intervals and the data is analyzed to determine the needs of our students. PLC teams use this data to structure daily blocks of time to accelerate learning in both literacy and math for all children. This time ensures our student... s will receive targeted instruction to meet individual learning needs. Churchill students utilize the GoMath! curriculum, which builds on fundamental mathematical concepts to help students solve problems and become mathematically literate. We provide innovative learning spaces, as well as a Creation Studio to support District 54's strategic focus area of cultivating innovation in learning space and instructional design. All students receive an hour of formal instruction in art, music and physical education each week. Students also visit the Learning Resource Center (our school library) for one hour each week to participate in Makerspace Activities. The Churchill staff's most important job is to provide the best possible education for our students. We support the educational and social emotional success of all students with programs and sponsored clubs such as PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports), GEMS (Girls Engaged in Math and Science), Art Club, Choir, Field Day, Battle of the Books, Rocketry Club, Student Ambassadors, among a variety of others. Churchill has an active PTA organization. The PTA provides family events, as well as both academic and social programs, such as Book Fairs, Cultural Arts field trips, Fun Fair, Movie Night, and monthly hot lunches and treat days.
