Chunks launched in the Spring of 2019. All the company's hair accessories are made from acetate, which is a highly durable, plant-based material with a much shorter life span than typical plastics and acrylics. All acetate remnants are recycled into new acetate material. The company's metal hardware is plated and nickel free. Chunks accessories are... proudly made in China. The company believes in representing the company's manufacturing openly because there are so many negative assumptions about it. The company believes working with Chinese manufacturers can provide the company the opportunity to create meaningful change in the company's manufacturing standards. The company is committed to furthering responsible manufacturing practices, which I will continue to document on my new blog . Chunks designs are inspired by my passion for colors, kulture and trends, nostalgic feelings and art like the Memphis design movement. In 2012, I opened up an Etsy store. I was 26, had been let go from my job, was broke, living in a crappy apartment with my brother with no real plan. I had been dreaming up a magical pair of ombré tights for a while so, what the hell, I turned my kitchen into a crazy looking dye lab and spent a couple months perfecting them. I took some nice photos and put them up on Etsy . Three days later, while I was out for lunch with some friends, my phone began buzzing with notifications and basically didnt stop for a year. B.Z.R. was born and was quickly making the internet rounds on Tumblr and Pinterest. Within months, I received international press features from BUST magazine, Refinery 29, Design Sponge, Glamour Magazine, Anthology Magazine, Brit + Co, and many others. By 2018, I had made and sold over 15,000 pairs of hand-dyed tights and I was burnt OUT. I had spent a couple years trying to figure out what to do next and by mid 2018, I started working on an idea I had, sparked by the fact that it was nearly impossible to find a cute hair claw.
