Chorus Labs announced today the launch of Baton, an application designed to help people communicate and delegate more effectively. Baton allows users to quickly capture thoughts to share and delegate with anyone, from any device. Users can send communications, or "batons," to any email address. But unlike other productivity apps, recipients do not... need a Baton account. "Think of all the bits and pieces the average professional has scattered in task and project management applications," Chorus Labs founder Justin Briggs said. "Baton puts all of those pieces together in one place that can be accessed from anywhere. As people strive to do more in less time, it's necessary for technology to create new ways to collaborate that still integrate with current workflow. Baton fits that need. It allows users to keep things organized and improve delegation, but in a very individualized way." Batons can be sent to others as tasks, questions and ideas to add context to a discussion. When users have multiple Batons open, each conversation is sorted in a dashboard by who they're talking with, what the topic was, when it's due and more. Closed Batons serve as an archive of not just to-do line items, but also important files and conversations. Briggs, who has worked with companies across biotech, nanotech and software, said Baton was born out of the frustration of managing multiple forms of communication across different companies, projects and groups. "Baton is our first step toward a sort of command center for the brain, where overseeing projects electronically is not frustrating, but an intuitive process for all - the busy professional, the consultant and even the creative thinker," Briggs said. Currently available as a web application, Baton plans to expand into iOS and Android applications before the end of the year.
