Our founder Victor Hitchcock Medinas passion for authentic Mexican flavors started in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. He committed himself to finding a way to share his family's special recipes. At about this time, he stumbled upon a family cookbook that belonged to our Great Grandmother Nemesia Garcia, who was from the state of Tlaxcala, Mexico. In her personal cookbook he found a recipe for tortilla soup the one that he had loved as a child. He decided this was the first flavor he wanted to share with others. Victor settled in Seattle, Washington in the late 1980s. He dedicated himself to making the same tortilla soup recipe in a simple dehydrated form that could easily be used in local restaurants. This is how Victor created the Chololoy Tortilla Soup Base. The superior quality and authentic taste of Mexico found in this soup helped Victor gain access to the largest and most important Mexican restaurant chain in the Pacific Northwest and Florida in 1990. Victor's Chololoy Tortilla soup can now be found in more than 300 restaurants in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Florida. While many have tried to copy the recipe, it has never been equaled - ours is the original tortilla soup seasoning that has been enjoyed by our Mexican family for generations.Read More
