ChiRhoClin Research Institute (CRI) is a charitable institute to promote educational and scientific research to improve patient quality of life and health. Founded in 1991 by Dr. Edward Purich, CRI was created to promote and facilitate the conduct of clinical studies in multiple disease areas. However, the company's current focus is with gastrointe... stinal diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, pancreatitis, pancreatic insufficiency and pancreatic cancer. CRI's mission is to collaborate with Universities and Industries to support clinical and medical research studies that will assist in the development of current and new drug products and procedures through better understanding of biochemical, physiological, diagnostic imaging, as well as pharmacology of drug actions. CRI has a five member Independent board of directors. Two members of the board are not part of the original founders of CRI. If a conflict of interest is determined the original members will abstain from voting on awarding a research grant. The two independent board members will make the final decision on awarding a research grant to avoid any potential conflict of interest. Applying for grants are especially difficult for young medical professionals. That is why CRI's goal is to fund these pilot studies, and promote awareness and training of young investigators so that they may participate in advancing medical practice through discovery and subsequent publications of their findings.
