Mission Statement: Charge Mommy Books is a woman-owned independent children's publishing company that aims not only to provide children with high-entertainment and high-quality stories, but to engage them in the act of storytelling. We believe that education and a love of reading are the foundations for economic upward mobility, and are one of the... key ways to foster change in our country. Our aim is to promote literacy and creativity, and get books in the hands of more children, in particular those who do not always have access to them. As such, we will be creating literacy-based activities around our books and will be donating 10% of profits on the sale of all Charge Mommy Books to various literacy initiatives. Who Are We? Charge Mommy Books is owned and operated by Brooke Vitale, a former childrens book editor at PenguinRandomHouse and Disney Press. Although an author of more than 100 traditionally published books, Brooke has become an active participant in the independent publishers community through the publishing services she offers at brookevitale.com. Having seen the strength, power, and creativity of independent publishers, Brooke felt empowered to begin publishing on her own. What Is Charge Mommy Publishing? The Charge Mommy Books list will be a mix between new titles, existing books that are being brought back into print, and crowd-sourced stories meant to engage children in the storytelling process. Our launch list consists of two early readers, one original picture book, and two picture books that are being updated and brought back into print for the first time in ten years. In addition, we will be inviting families to participate in Charge Mommy Interactive, a social-media based experiment in crowd-sourcing stories one piece at a time, with the goal of ultimately publishing the final books.
