Changing Ways offers a unique service in the community. By providing alternatives for men wishing to end their abusive behaviour and prevent further abuses to their families, the community is taking an active stand against the abuse of women and all of its resulting social repercussions. Changing Ways remains a beacon of hope for men in our communi... ty who wish to end their abusive behaviour. Men come to Changing Ways with many different stories. Although their stories are unique to each individual, there are common elements that they all share. These are some of the common warning signs of abusive behaviour in men: They sometimes feel jealous of their partner's friends or family. They sometimes have a "Hot-Temper". They sometimes seem to fight over the same things again and again without resolution. Their partner may complain about feeling trapped or controlled. They sometimes go by the creed, "Mess with me and you'll be sorry". They may throw things at, or near, their partner. They sometimes only feel secure when their partner is very close, both physically and emotionally. They sometimes get into "mean" fights where they are calling their partner names, raising their voice and/or using insults. This is a short list of attributes that are common to many of the men who come to Changing Ways and could indicate to others that Changing Ways may be a place for them.
