Chamel Fields

Chamel Fields is located on 30 acres of softly rolling pasture nestled in the south end of Kuitpo Forest, just south of Meadows and Prospect Hill in South Australia, about 1/3 of the way down the Fleurieu Peninsula. The property was purchased in 1997 and began with breeding Dexter Cattle and Miniature Horses. A farm stay experience has been availab... le since that time, the guests being housed in a recently refurbished 1930's cottage and a large newly converted barn. The cottage has two bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate an average family. The American style barn is a comfortable and very roomy accommodation for larger groups. The two buildings can also serve as a live-in conference centre. Chamel Fields Miniature Horse Stud has been 'quietly breeding and succeeding' for the last 17 years, with several National Champions as part of the herd. The proprietor, Judith, is a keen trainer and driver of miniature horses in carriage. There are four stallions standing at stud. There are always horses for sale, with foals arriving from August each year. Chamel Fields Dexter Cattle Stud is a small herd of quality Dexter Cattle, a naturally small breed of originally Irish dual purpose cattle (Beefy Little Milkers - equally good for meat and milk), making them a popular cow for the small land holder, especially with their placid and tractable personalities.
