In the early years, as an affiliate of the Easter Seal Society, BCSCC provided physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and a pre-school class at no cost to Bell County children with special needs. BCSCC began operating in a converted house near the old Scott and White campus. In 1965, the Temple Lions Club built the current building and proudly supported BCSCC as one of its major community endeavors. Bell County community organizations and businesses supported BCSCC with services, funds, and donations of goods. In the 1980s, when Federal law required public schools to mainstream children with special needs into general education campuses, BCSCC changed its mission and focus to early childhood education and programs for children with special needs and their siblings. BCSCC, governed by a Board of Directors, is a non-profit corporation exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We operate in Temple providing specialized early childhood education to families in the Temple-Belton area with priority to families who have children with special needs. Families in all parts of Bell County seek our services when appropriate care for their children with special needs is not available within their home communities.Read More
