CENTRAL FALLS, DECEMBER 15 - Administrators at Central Falls High School are committed to actively engaging students and parents in the implementation of the school's transformation plan. In an effort to better engage students, today, administrators held a series of assemblies to update students on transformation plan progress and to listen to thei... r concerns and ideas. Going forward, student assemblies will be held every week to ensure that student feedback is a part of making Central Falls High School a great place to learn. "We understand that our students are frustrated, we're frustrated too," said Superintendent Dr. Frances Gallo. "However, skipping important school time to express this frustration is not productive. That's why today we held a number of student assemblies to update students on what is expected of them as part of the transformation and to listen to their feedback." In addition to new weekly student assemblies, Central Falls High School administrators have created a number of forums to communicate transformation plan information and to receive community feedback. Many of these efforts have been ongoing since the start of the school year: Weekly meetings with approximately 30 student members of Young Voices; Daily student advisory sessions of small groups of student - on a regular basis members of the administration and advisory counselors discuss transformation; Three meetings to date of the Parent Advisory Committee; Three meetings to date of the Superintendent's Forum; Twice monthly meetings of the Board of Trustee's, which is open to the public and to public comments; Regular meetings with the Central Falls High School Parent Student Teacher Organization; Twenty parent volunteers, with three to four volunteers at the school on a daily basis; and Two full-time parent liaisons.
