The Museum operates an Enquiry Service whereby, during normal opening hours, members of the public may leave objects at the front desk for identification. The Museum will endeavour to provide a brief report identifying the object, its date and origin as soon as possible. However, this may take several weeks especially if the Museum needs to call on... other experts. The Museum is unable to provide valuations. The Museum is located on Downing Street (between Pembroke College and Emmanuel College) in the heart of Cambridge. The Museum is open to the public, free of charge, from 2:00 to 4:30 Tuesday through Saturday. These hours are likely to be extended during the summer months. The Museum has three floors of exhibition space showing archaeological and anthropological collections from around the world. There is also an active changing exhibitions programme. Established in 1884, the Museum displays renowned archaeological and anthropological collections from around the world. The ground-floor gallery displays collections of world prehistory and local archaeology; the first-floor gallery offers an historical and geographical display of the social anthropology collection; while on the top floor, special exhibitions reflect current research interests in the Faculty. Research and teaching remain the primary focus of the Museum which welcomes researchers from all parts of the world to work and study the Museum's extensive collections.
