Cascade Striders Track Club

The Cascade Striders is a youth running club affiliated with the USA Track & Field (USATF) - the national governing body for track and field, road running, cross country running, racewalking, and mountain/ultra/trail running. As such, it abides by the rules and regulations of USA Track & Field and operates in close coordination with its local assoc... iation. We provide young athletes with an opportunity to develop and build confidence in their running skills while training and competing with other athletes of similar ages and abilities in a supportive and fun environment. We pursue that goal with the philosophy of holding the emotional and physical well being of the athletes ahead of all other considerations and providing a rewarding experience no matter what level of running skill or background. Our club operates under the supervision of USATF certified coaches. All coaches are required to be members of the USATF and maintain good standing through an annual background screening. We are a non-profit organization run solely by volunteers and overseen by a board of directors. Cliff Nixon started the running club that became the Cascade Striders in 1972. It was the first local club to allow opportunities for both boys and girls to compete in age group Track & Field and Cross Country.
