The Inn i... s located just 11.8 miles from the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest with hundreds of hiking trails, ranging from the 1/2 mile Shadow of the Sentinels trail to all day hikes along Baker Lake or to Rainbow Falls. Rasar State Park is a short 2 miles away and has some good short trails along the Skagit River. It's a nice bicycle ride to the park from the Inn. The turn off to Sauk Mountain Trail is 12 miles East on Hwy. 20 and the trailhead is 7 miles off of the Hwy. The hike up is about 2 miles and takes some endurance, but offers a 360 degree vista of the Cascade mountain range that stretches all the way to Mt. Rainier. The North Cascades National Parks Visitor Center in Newhalem is located 35 miles east of the Inn on Hwy. 20. The center features interpretive exhibits, a gift shop and a slide program about the North Cascades and several walks on easy-going trails. A must while in Newhalem is the Trail of the Cedars, a short walk through old growth cedar trees. Some highlights of the city of Concrete, 6 miles East of the Inn on Hwy. 20: the Hub Tavern with its 100 foot long back bar that's carved out of one piece of wood, take a picture in front of the standing silo and visit the Indian museum at the end of the Thompson bridge. Bring your bicycle, fishing pole, snowshoes, cross country skis, hiking boots and most important your camera and binoculars! For those of you traveling with horses and horse trailers, we offer facilities to park and store trailers and accommodations for your healthy horses for an additional fee.
