With 25 years experience as a professional photographer working across 4 continents and photographing some of the worlds most intriguing figures including President Clinton, Kofi Annan and my hero PJ O'Rourke. From working in dark rooms in black and white, to scanning photos into computers to now transferring digital image data wirelessly, Ive been... privileged to work at the heart of a discipline that has seen enormous change and development. From an early career focusing on sports photography, where I was the youngest ever winner of the Irish Sports Photographer of the Year, I established Phil Carrick Photography and worked for a wide range of international publications including the Irish Times, The Sunday Business Post, Reuters, The Times and USA Today. Throughout this period, I also worked for corporate clients including Guinness, Toyota, The Alzheimer's Society, Panasonic and The AIB bank. I set off to travel the world and in 1994 met my now wife Wendy in the immigration queue in Bangkok Airport. Australia is now home and we live in Sydney with our two gorgeous kids. Since relocating to Australia I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the countrys best photographers at The Sydney Morning Herald, The Sun Herald, The Australian Financial Review and The Australian. In 1996 I took a full time position at Fairfax as Senior Photographer with The Australian Financial Review and worked across a range of Fairfax publications including BRW Magazine (Chief Photographer), The AFR Magazine, Sophisticated Traveller, Fairfax Canberra Bureau and the AFR Stock Library. In 2004 I was made Managing Picture Editor of The Australian Financial Review and had responsibility for managing photographers and images across all Fairfax Business titles.
