In 1991 he was the first Irishman to be honored with Captaincy of the Royal & Ancient. In 2007 he was the first Irishman to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. Today, Joe's son, Marty, operates the business as executive chairman. His brother Roddy is also actively involved.
