Carpenter Design was founded by Chip Carpenter as a custom residential design firm located in the greater Charlotte-Gastonia-Lake Wylie area of the Carolinas. The vast range of styles, arrangements, and sizes of houses designed for local clients over the years has provided a great education in the development of versatile, creative, and cost-consci... ous designs. The ongoing study of traditional architecture has not only provided a great source of enjoyment for the designer, but has also provided the necessary knowledge to apply the appropriate use of arrangements, proportions, forms, details, and materials to create house designs that are more likely to appear authentic to the style (or theme) they are intended to be, as opposed to a house that appears "cheap" and "irrational", as so many unfortunately do when elements from too many varying styles & traditions are unwisely thrown upon one house design. Chip Carpenter is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He believes that with his ongoing interests in art, architecture, philosophy, and history that he is able to apply many of the ideas in these disciplines in the creation of more valuable house designs in the traditional styles and forms.Read More
