About Carolina Hurricanes Hockey Club
The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina, competing in the NHL's Eastern Conference as part of the Metropolitan Division. The franchise was established in 1971 as the New England Whalers in the World Hockey Association (WHA) and joined the NHL in 1979 as the Hartford Whalers. In 1997, the team relocated to North Carolina and became the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes won their first Stanley Cup in 2006, defeating the Edmonton Oilers in a seven-game series.Explore more
